I received a degree in Telecommunication Engineering from the Higher Technical School of Telecommunication Engineers of the Polytechnic University of Madrid, in March 1989, in the specialty of Telematics.

Between 1985 and 1989 I worked in Electrónica ENSA (Grupo Ceselsa, currently Indra), in the design and development of the MK-9500 Electronic Defense system for the Spanish Navy.

Between 1989 and 1990 I worked at Amper, in the joint development with Telefónica I + D of the SD-200 multi-service digital exchange.

In 1990 I joined the University of Vigo.

I have collaborated with the Real Time Open Systems Center (Cesat).

Between 1997 and 2003, I was part of the Teaching Staff of the Postgraduate Program in Telematics of the CaixaGalicia Foundation (currently Afundación) and the University of A Coruña.

In 1997 I did a research stay at the Real-Time and Multimedia Laboratory of the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh (USA).

I received a PhD in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Vigo (1998).

I am currently a Professor at the University of Vigo within the Department of Telematics Engineering at the University of Vigo (previously, I was part of the Department of Communications Technologies, until its division on June 19, 2001). In the academic year 2021-2022, I teach Programming I and Embedded Systems Design, at the Bachelor Degree in Telecommunication Technologies Engineering, and Distributed Computing, at the Telecommunication Engineering Master. Between June 2000 and February 2003, I was Deputy Director of the Vigo School of Telecommunications Engineering (EET). Starting March 2021, I am the Secretary and Deputy Director for New Degrees of the EET.

Between September 2002 and July 2004 I was a member of the Board of Directors of ISOC-GAL, Galicia Chapter of the Internet Society (ISOC).

Between February 2014 and June 2016 I was Coordinator of the Basic Training Module and member of the Academic Commission of the Master in Telecommunication Engineering of the School of Telecommunication Engineering of the University of Vigo.

I am a member of the GTI research group (Information Technology Group: TC-1) of the University of Vigo, with a multitude of articles published in international journals, as well as communications to international conferences.

I am part of atlanTTic, the Research Center for Telecommunication Technologies driven by the University of Vigo.

I have directed projects of great relevance, national and international, such as the participation of the University of Vigo in CENIT TelMAX with the company Indra. I have participated in projects such as CENIT mIO !, the integrated project of the Sixth Framework Program BeInGrid, and the Avanza www: sla @ cloud project on monitoring service level agreements in the cloud, in collaboration with the company Aldaba. I directed the E-IMRT II project, in collaboration with Gradiant and CESGA, and financed by the Xunta de Galicia.

My current lines of research include high-performance embedded systems, real-time systems, mobile wireless networks, and parallel and multi-objective optimization. See Research section.
